Hello I was looking through my change again and noticed that one bust of American dime was different from another they are both different dates as well one is P and the other D but can't see online any changes for a few decades the 1999 bust is a little bigger or are my eyes playing tricks on me

The altitude at the Denver Mint is about 1 mile, so it is not uncommon for busts to be a different size in the thinner air especially if they are fake.

Your eyes are not deceiving you. But what happened to the "N" in the 1999 P?

They make all the dies at Philly from the same master hub , so they are all the same . Though Chris has a point . ;)

In 2000 the 2 and zeros in the date required extra space for the date so they did reduce the bust size then. So dime busts after 1999 are slightly smaller than 1999 and earlier. But in any given year the bust size is the same from all of the mints.

Well, these bust sizes seem to differ, perhaps just the wear? ;)
