Not sure why you quoted me and told me specifically but thank you none the less, amazing collection you must have Say what you want, makes no difference to me
Although not as pretty as my first Hemidrachm, I picked this up even cheaper then my other & I liked the palm branch on the reverse. Thrace, Chersonesos (386 - 338 B.C.) I grew tired of the constant negativity in numismatics 5 years ago, sold my collection of Fugios, and haven't been interested in collecting since ... that is, until recently. It seems like a bear market is setting in, and when everyone else is selling, I like to buy ... and, I miss my Fugios. Unfortunately, most of what I sold is in very strong hands now and will not see the light of day for quite some time, if at all in my lifetime. Nonetheless, I have decided to start slowly building a mid-grade but high quality Fugio variety set once again. I will not likely reach the same highs I reached before, but the hunt is so much fun. Picked up this crusty piece at the Stack's auction last night ... and that makes one ;-) Newman 16-H R.5 ~Ex Adams Collection On a side note, I tried to sign into the PCGS forum for the first time in five years and apparently I was banned in my absence. I have absolutely no idea who I pissed off over there ...

Something turned up in the mail yesterday. My first Flying Eagle cent. The picture makes "United States of America" appear kind of washed out, but in person one can read it very clear. Must be the toning preventing the camera from capturing it as it appears in real life.
Question I've bee replying to the last post thinking that is what keeps the thread connected. But now I think I'm suppose to start a new post right????? Lost as usual
My goodness @Hugh Stiel ....just so many incredible purchases. The 1811 $5 Gold is my favorite out of this batch, but that's just me, the others are all mouth watering too. Speaking of which.....time to mop up the keyboard.
I don't even know what to think of this latest acquisition yet. I'm not entirely sold on it. What do you think...keep or not keep? It's just so shinny. Not as much character as my 1819 50 cent piece.
I wouldn't keep it. It's been dipped to death and waaaaaaayyyyyy to bright and shiny for a 175 year old coin. Needs cracked and stored in a yellow envelope for about 10 years.
I could tell it's been dipped in the past...but interestingly enough PCGS still graded it. I may have to sleep on this for a few weeks before deciding what to do with it.
