Coin World had an article this week about PLs turning up in Denver Mint sets for 2015. PCGS and NGC have slabbed some of these. A few are showing up on EBay at various prices, mostly low. What does the jury think of these? Since I am not a modern coin guy I can't even fathom a bad guess of their potential value on down the line.
Saw that article. Denver has always minted better coins (UNC) than Philly.....at least it seems that way to me. Must be the Rocky Mountain water. Anyway, I haven't checked my sets......they're still sealed. If I found one I'd just consider it bragging rights, nothing more. Let the hair splitters have a field day, I'm not into drinking the Kool Aid.........
Agreed with Denver making better quality coins and having better overall quality control. But could it be the Rocky Mountain Oysters?
You know I've heard that also and seen it first hand.... why is that though? Isn't the same machinery as Philly or is it the people working there that are making the difference?
The article cited a few operational differences in the two Mints along with climate differences between Denver and Philadelphia.
Ahhh that's true, didn't think of that. I could see that, Mile High City would make any machine work harder and less efficient.
Also, they're probably drinking Coors on the job, unlike the Philly fellows who are probably drinking Bud lite........
