The dime on the left is normal, the one on the right has two noses, two ears, date is not distinguishable, however the back is normal.

I'm not interested in selling the coin, but would be interested in knowing it's value.

    Hi,
Two headed coins are generally created by someone taking two coins, sanding down the reverse, and attaching the two together. There is only novelty value attached to such coins.

    Peter -

The coin that rvance posted a link to is not a novelty coin. It appears to be an error. The two faces he mentions are both on the same side of the coin. It looks like a double strike to me. As for value - the folks at Error World would be the ones to ask.

You're right, I get the two-headed question so often that I didn't really get what he was really asking. Yes, it would be worth having an expert in error coins have a look.

Who doesn't get the two headed coin question. As soon as they know you collect coins, they want to show your their two headed quarter. It's always very valuable stuff to them.

The real ones are very valuable stuff Coin Chick. They cannot be simply discounted out of hand as they do exist. Some of them have 2 tails instead of heads though.

The vast majority of these coins are magicians coins or novelty coins to be sure - about 99.999% of them. But you never know when a real one may just pop up. They are among the rarest of all numismatic rarities.

The coin brought over $200,000 some years before that. Hugh, you should start a new thread with this coin. Do you have any other images of it?

so out of curiosity other than spend who knows how much to have double sided coins verified and the obvious way of telling if they are fake by tool marks how would you know whether what you have is the real deal, by weight? I always heard no matter what they are fake.

I may be mistaken, but this doesn't look like the same coin. upload_2015-11-7_18-47-30.png

They are absolutely the same coin, no question about it.

Yes, but does that mean we should ignore it? ldhair has already suggested a new thread.

Yes I did, but the post with the Silver Dollar is recent.

Doesn't the orientation of the coin look significantly look different?

Very much so, but is meaningless; coins can and do turn while in the slab. The coin itself presents all the evidence necessary to identify them as being on and the same.

How can you decipher? I have a 1924 1/2 dime 1/2 penny. Never knew what to do with it, so I just watched for a post like this to ask. Any suggestions?
