I had an extra $120 to spend so I got me an 1858 Flying Eagle Cent, PCGS VF35. Should have it by Monday. Will post pictures then. This is my first Flying Eagle Cent. Wasn't even on my radar, but decided to snap it up as it is a highly unusual coin (due to the short period of time it was minted)

Yeah, I know there's a print there. I don't typically like having them on coins I purchase. I wouldn't categorize it as "very distracting" as it's near the rim at 6, but it's definitely there.

BTW, I also think the Morgan is overgraded. I did not pay 67 money for it. I bought it because I own a couple other coins with similar toning. It's a deep purple around the rims. I also believe the fields to be "deep". Not PL or DPL, but based on the pictures, I think they will be very nice.

Not a coin but something I have been wanting for a while. An Australian penny folder so I actually have a place to put my collection. I also picked up ones for the half-penny, 3 and 6 pence, shilling and florin. This guy was selling them waaaaaay cheaper than I have ever seen. So excited.

That's more than a great DDO. It's a new Variety one thought not to exist . And once it's attributed I'm sure it's going to make the covers of some numismatics magazines .

There ya go again Charlie.......it's a nice coin. I'm sure OP knew that. Why the devil point it out?

.... it's small, close to the rim and certainly not "very" distracting. I bet it looks worse on the pictures than it actually is.

That would be awesome if it did! Howard is adding it to his SNV

@green18 and @micbraun , thanks for your comments. I certainly did see the print, but it did not keep me from wanting the coin.

This is one of my favorite Morgan toning patterns. I have 2 of them. The '78 8TF toning on the coin below is quite vivid. The center toning is coppery. The reverse just has a little rim toning, unlike yours.

I got a lot of coins with this type toning but not many Morgans. I see and pursue it a lot in seated coins and trade dollars

don't get me wrong, I like the rainbows, but I prefer this pattern to some of the splotchy colorful ones I've seen. When you rotate this coin, that copper shimmers. It's really quite amazing in hand. The blue/indigo on the rims from 2 - 6 is every bit as noticeable as it is in the photo.

Here's another. Photos are from Legend~Morphy. Not quite as good as the Heritage photos. The toning on this is nice, but not as nice as the '78 8TF, although, this one has 2 sided toning. The indigo/blue on the rims is not quite as prominent on this coin either. The white balance on this scan/photo is a little off.

Oops, a couple more. These are not quite as defined as the other two, but still cool, IMO.

Here it is...my very first Draped Bust Half Dollar, an 1819/8 in VF30. Incidentally, also my very first PCGS graded coin. :woot:

I'm not really a betting man yeah a little at times, but I bet the house on that it's going to be a headliner.
