I think LBJ looks like Rodney Dangerfield on the golden reverse proof dollar. I like some of the fine details on the silver medal. They actually put some texture in his suit jacket...
In general, I agree Ken. I wish the reverses were a little more interesting, but I do appreciate the fine details found on the obverses. One of my LBJ golden reverse proof golden dollars has a small tick mark on his left brow, no big deal for me. But, the way the forehead was sculpted on the coin, you have to rotate it, otherwise, at first glance, there looks to be other marks. When you rotate the coin, you can tell it's the way the light reflects off the contour of the forehead. I noticed this on both my coin sets. I don't believe it to be a defect, but in the design.
haha THANK YOU for the compliment sir! It really is a beauty. I have a couple dealers I work with that find nice examples of patterns and I always peruse all the Legend/Stacks/Goldberg/Heritage auctions, occasionally a nice example will come across the block! I finally have gotten around to taking photos of the shield nickel for Howard Spindel once I get time I'll try and post them in the next few days
Keep me in mind on that one Bill if you ever want to part with it, that is right up my alley for my set, grade and look wise. Excellent coin!
For anyone interested, you can check my progression on my seated collection on my website here: http://www.firstcapitalcoins.com/#!first-capital-collection/cy5f @robec has been kind enough to help out with the photography. I have two more batches for him to do before I have what's in my collection all the way up and posted. About 10-12 more coins.
