Would anyone be interested in a numismatic Skype Group? This would involve text chatting about coins, perhaps a bit of research/identification of coins, or just showing them off.

    Anyone interested?

Interesting...i've thought about an IRC channel...kind of like AIM or Gchat...might be cool. I'm not familiar with Skype Groups.

Well, basically you need to add me to Skype and then I could add you to a group, where people who have Skype (and me as a friend) can talk.

An IRC channel could be interesting too, not to mention simpler, but I have no idea how to set one up.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I really don't see what the advantage of this would be over a discussion forum like this. The best way to show coins online is, and always will be, a high quality photo (and you can't get that with Skype). If you want to show the coin in motion, a youtube video can be posted here to show the cartwheel.

Plus, on the forum, you guys aren't subjected to my ugly mug.

What? Skype is instant, you CAN post high quality photos and youtube links. It's a text based chat, not video...

Actually that is what Skype is meant for..... video

I'm in though if a possible coin collector chat room of some sorts is in the making, would be nice to have one since we can't have one here... although, don't care for Skype personally

Trust me, I use Skype every day. It's not meant for video.

You are both correct, skype was designed for both not one or the other........ :)

Its a great idea...but the bandwidth involved for groups would be very poor. Sorry JMHO.
