Guess I am getting hooked on libertads. Got this one for a very reasonable price, and the NGC population in grade is 11, with 3 finer.
Definitely have the bug, and will go and collect the entire series of 1 onza. One is a NGC MS 67, and the other a PCGS MS 70.
Good time at my local show yesterday. Here are some Mexican pieces. I love these rough looking revolutionary coins.
Wanted this florin for a long time and I have always desired a 1797 Two pence. So I bought one today. It's not the best one but I can't wait to have it!!!
Brr, you don't need the TV coin. You don't want it. It could be posted to the "Worst Coin Designs" topic in my opinion ... By the way, 2002 was when the euro cash became legal tender. The euro as a currency was introduced in 1999 which is why some euro countries used 1999 as the earliest date on the euro coins. Also, while I am picking nits anyway, on the image side of the Museumsinsel coin, the "B" of the word Berlin is supposed to be the bottom. Christian
I agree, it is a very strange design considering the others. Well maybe, the Documenta Kassel is sort of plain also. The desire is more of wanting to complete the "set" more than anything else. It would make it easier to market in the future. I fixed the photo. Your are right it looks better. Thanks for the tip.
Just purchased this lovely Kruger-Gray design of the sixpence from Atlas. Glad I held out for a superb example; it's been on my want list for over 2 years. 1927 Proof Sixpence, PCGS PF67
Thanks @jello , I have always liked the Kruger-Gray Acorn Sixpence. In general, I think Kruger-Gray was one of the best coin designers of the 20th century. He has a great many coin designs, many if not most are very well done.
My budget does not allow for the very expensive early Philippines mint or proof sets, but this one did. The 1975 Proof set was the first proof set struck by the Philippines since 1908. It introduced 2 new denominations, the 50 and 5 Piso. Both feature President Marcos. The 25 Piso features General Aguinaldo, elected president of the Republic in 1899. Jose Rizal, a national hero is shown on the 1 Piso. Juan Luna, a famous painter is on the 25 Sentimos. Francisco Baltasar on the 10, Melchora Aquino on the 5, and Lapulapa on the 1 Sentimo. The inscription "Ang Bagong Lipunan" translates to "The New Society". This refers to President Marcos's program to re-vitalize industry and agriculture. The 50 and 25 Piso combine for 1.2167 oz. of Silver 1975 Philippines Proof Set Mintage 36,516
A few more German 5 Marks arrived today to add to my collection of the Eagle variations. These are Proof Copper-Nickel with a mintage of 350,000 each. I was able to pick these up for $4.95 each. A bargain in my opinion. I really like the design on the Colonge Cathedral. The coins are in a hard plastic which had "bubbles" surrounding the coins. Apparently a couple of the coins were stored against others causing some imprinting on the plastic. The coins are not harmed however. Easy to see on the reverse of von Goeth. This 1989 10 Mark is a Silver Proof commemorating the 2000th Anniversary of the city of Bonn. Mintage 350,000
Is this one set's Philadelphia mint strike? US was striking Philippines coinage in the 1960-82???? If I recall correctly.
Franklin Mint. They did a lot of proof sets for various countries in the mid 70s. Especialy for the Caribbean Islands.
