@H8_modern 1851-O 3¢ could have a clash ? You may want to loop it it's in the Cherry picker's guide vol 2 Happy hunting.
Thanks. What edition do you have? I have 5th ed. Vol. 1 and 4th ed. Vol. 2. I have trimes in vol. 1 and nothing is listed for 1851-O.
I'm not sure now where I found the listing for the clashed 1851-O it could have Wexler finding or variety forum?
More coins that were found at my great aunts house. About $130 in silver (sorry I didn't pull them out of the box) with some assorted coins. But this one is the real treat! a Columbian Half Dollar. It came in that old box you see in the picture and it has toned beautifully. The pictures can't do it justice. It looks really black but it's really a deep purple and blue. Plus it has full details.
I don't grade many coins but this one has been tempting me. I know its NT because it's probably been in that box since 1892 haha.
I'll check the Swiatek book for original packaging in the morning, but your example looks original and compelling.......
The problem is the packaging is meant for a quarter, not the half. Still could be original though. The half was just sitting in there rolling around. That's why there's little scuff marks on the coin (look on the obverse just to the bottom right of the head).
