It has not been long since we last visited Alexander here but that thread long left coins so I'll start another. I have a few Alexander coins but bought this worn Magnesia mint drachm because of its minor type - an owl. It is posthumous dated 319-305 BC (Price 1965) and common enough there are a couple on acsearch. I'm fond of coins with nice minor devices so added this drachm to the day's haul. Post your coins most notable for having nice minor devices.
an owl, that a cool little addition. here's a greek AE, I thought the little caduceus was a plus for this coin.
I liked this tet enough on first glance to take a second look, but it was the minor type of the pegasos protome that sealed the deal. I also look out for interesting symbols on Corinth staters, it's become a bit of a side collection. My favorite is the one with the Chimera because of how its legend ties in with that of Bellerophon and the Pegasus. This following coin has a rare symbol is described as a 'pudenda virilia'. Even without medical qualifications, I ought to be able to confirm if it is what they call it, but I'm still on the fence... It was also the symbol that sold me on this one, a rather fine-looking hound dog.

Great thread-idea, doug ... Yah, I am only half-way through my collection and I've already found 9 fairly cool symbol-examples that I "love" ... The first one is a bit hard to tell, but there is a "Liar" to the right of the Kanthros ... and a very sweet "club" below ummm, and an "elephant" above deck ... a "wreath" behind the portrait ... ... man, and a sweet "dolphin" symbol, below the dude on the dolphin ... a cool "spear-head" below the horse ... a "grass-hopper" above the lion ... oooww, and a great "dog & snake" combo on this L-Papi ... a sweet "spear" below Larry dog
oh, and another sweet "spear-head" below ... Ummmm, but most importantly ... =>"WHAT IS IN FRONT OF SERAPIS' HEAD?" ... looks like a cool smoke-ring, but neither CNG nor myself can figure it out!!? => any guesses?

This heavily worn Drachm from 'Kolophon'? (Price 1840?) has a few interesting devices----among them a 'pentagram' ....and a 'protome' on the left....forepart of a lion???
Hmmmm? ... JA, is that a "symbol" (minor device), or merely the coin design? I have a similar whatever it is .. I like your coin, stud!!
It is the coin design - they all seem to have an eagle and club, but sometimes the club gets engraved in the right field, and sometimes is eagle is quite big with a small bust. Still, they aren't the major feature of the obverse.
This is an "X on W"? Cool. Amost a Xi overlaid an Omega (ah, as you refer to X over W). It is a pretty cool device on your Alexander... Ok, got it!
