Hi there, A friend and I picked up these two coins at a bargain price. We' had them for a while now and have been unable to find out any more about them. If anyone knows of any keywords that might help me research that would be much appreciated. The Gold Churchill coin is .900 gold and weighs 1/2oz The Silver Churchill is about 3/4oz and apparentally 1000 (seems a unusual purity grade) The Italian coin is .900 Gold and quite small, probably around 4 or 5 grams
Your pictures are really pretty poor, but there were quite a few Churchill commemoratives. None of these items are coins. For comparables seach for Churchill or Papal medallions.
I agree, my friends pictures are bad. With your search terms I uncovered this. We found this last time too! http://churchill-collector.com/gold-churchill-memorial-medals-1965-set-5/
Yes, that is a medal - and apparently it was issued shortly after the death of Pope John XXIII. The years in Roman numerals refer to when he was born (1881) and died (1963). Not sure about this one, but usually such "third party" medals honoring popes do not have numismatic value that exceeds the metal value. Still a nice piece. Christian
The medal with Pope John XXIII, is a private issue, not official from Vatican City, his value is only gold...but it's a nice medal petronius
