Nicely toned. You don't see them like that much.

This is what I was trying to get across to the professor and we have had a pleasant conversation in PMs. Colors like this happen much less than rainbow toning and make the coin rare. That being said it is a different person, one who does not go with what everyone else is doing that will like this Morgan. That can be seen by the responses this thread has received.
My intention was not to come here to argue but to talk about perceived values and to see what people think about the coin.
Every opinion even those contrary to my own are greatly appreciated, thank you.

That's one of the most common morgans out there, but it's awesome! I wish I had that coin.

You are wrong John and back to insulting people. The argument was about the value of the coin. Not the looks of the coin. It is not rare in any way. You do not know what you are talking about. I'm finished with you and your dreams as well.

And some are here to post the truth and not a bunch of fiction such as the OP has. If someone here wants to pay $800 for a $200 coin, go for it. It's your money.

You are welcome to your opinion as are all others. If you would actually take the time to look at my provided link and the image I posted of Morgans that are not the standard rainbow toned morgans for this date and mint mark you will see that I am actually correct as they sold for over $1000.00. This is what research does for a person.
This statement "That being said it is a different person, one who does not go with what everyone else is doing that will like this Morgan." made by me is in no way disrespectful and is absolutely 100% correct.
Further, the statement made by me is a fact, not an opinion, Jason is not the person who would be buying this coin were it for sale. Jason does not deal with coins toned in the manner my coin is toned.
Larry if you would do some easy research you would see that Morgan dollars in this date and mint mark do not carry full obverse toning like the one I posted. This fact does impart a certain amount of rarity and that is no dream. I can guarantee you that I know what I am talking about in this regard. Now as to the look of a coin, when has the look of a coin never had an impact on its' value? If the look of a coin did not have an impact on a coins value we would not nee grading services or companies that put stickers on coin holders telling us that they look good. You stating " The argument was about the value of the coin. Not the looks of the coin." is just plain wrong and even a beginning collector could tell you this.
Larry I value your opinion even if rude and disparaging, thank you for taking the time to reply to my posts, John.

Now as an example of my research to prove my point to some who think I am dreaming. Here is a 1881-S PCGS MS63 Morgan dollar one of the most common Morgans around. This coin books at $69.00 and at auction it brought $2481.60 for a toned Morgan that is not the standard spectrum for a rainbow toned Morgan. This coin presents with primarly purple and green full obverse toning. Am I dreaming or does this coin and information actually exist? Take a look if you dare!

There has been a shift in the Toned Morgan market is is slight and not a monster but there. Those that like making money have already started taking advantage of this. We as coin collectors are a fickle bunch, slow to change or even accept change. This is our lot in life but there are a few in this hobby who do not always go with the flow and will venture out of the kiddy part of the river to brave the rapids. I can tell you from personal experience that it can be a lot of fun riding those rapids but they are not without danger, just look at all the collectors who are sitting on modern commemoratives right now, beautiful coins that once sold for thousands will now barely bring hundreds, that is unless they are wildly toned. I believe that some of the market that appreciates the toned coins in other series such as the Jefferson nickel, the Rosevelt dime and modern commemoratives are looking at other wildly and differently toned coin for their collections.
You can choose to agree or disagree with my opinion as it is just that an opinion and not absolute. This being said, I see no reason to resort to calling people stupid, ignorant or otherwise as it is not needed in a civil argument which every conversation is.
Thank you all who have come to this thread to give their opinions they are appreciated with the highest regard, John.

The argument was not about the looks of the coin. Don't try to twist the words. Now you tell me a beginning collector could tell me this? It's clear that you can not read what has been said. It's a $50 coin that got a bump to $200 because of it's looks.
You have yet to show us any coin that looks like yours that has brought the money you claim yours is worth. You can't do that because it's a dream with no facts behind it. I ask you before to show us and you told me to go look. Don't twist the words any more. Just show us.
You told me you are on CU. Post the coin there and say you feel the coin is worth north of $800. I'll watch for you to post it.

Larry why do you feel comments like "And you think your coin is even in that class. Yes you are dreaming." are necessary? It would just be as easy to say hey John, my opinion differs with yours. It seems you have an agenda to post rudely to anything I post even though you stated you are done with me, why is this? What did I do that wronged you?
Are you like the bull in the arena and the red in my coin has caused you to get all irrational and angry?
Larry all coin collecting starts with dreaming or have you forgotten this from when you started collecting coins? When I lose my wonder as some here have do I will be very sad, for when dreams die so does a piece of the world wonder.
Thank you yet again, Larry for your opinion such as it is, John

Larry not sure where your anger is coming from. If you look at my posts you will see every coin I posted was different than the normal rainbow toned Morgan. I am at a loss for the reason you can not see this. the last coin I posted even had a link to the auction for you and anyone else to see, did you even look? I have twisted no word at all as all collectors the look of a coin is paramount to its' value, any beginning yet again can tell you this, just ask Jason as he wrote a decent book on this. Why would I post the coin on CU just to have you go there and troll me, I am getting enough of your trolling right here. I am so glad to know that when someone states they respect your opinion but does not agree with it that you will take it personally
and attack them. Way to build up the lacking friendliness within our hobby.
Larry could you please be done trolling me now as it truly is leading nowhere. Please accept the fact that your opinion and mine are different. It is plain to see you do not like the coin and it is not for you, that is ok Larry, not every coin is liked by every person who sees it. I hope you can see past your undeserved anger towards my person, my coin and my opinion and move on as you said you would.

You posted one coin that was not a rainbow or covered with nice color. It was solid blue and brought a nice price. Yours is nothing like that. There is no anger but don't call me a troll. Stop with your insults. I love the coin and I have said that. It's just your claim as to the value. Stay on topic. Show us.

Take it to CU. I give you my word, I will not post in the thread. Do you have enough faith in the coin to do that? Prove me wrong. There are many experts there that will give you an honest opinion of value.

You could also ask for opinions on NGC and I again promise to not post to the thread. You have nothing to loose. Maybe you have problems with the folks on those sites. I don't know. Would you mind if I posted images of your coin on both sites? I would post it just asking for opinions of value and never give my opinion.
An image of the slab would probably help you get higher opinions.
Are you up for the challenge?

Larry I posted 3 coins but 2 were links to the actual auctions. I did not feel it would be necessary to post all the image of those coins. I have no issues with anyone on the other sites and I regularly post on CU. When I stated I talk with Sunnywood one of the world's foremost collectors of toned Morgans it is on CU that I talk with him. I am very familiar with the coins I collect and the values they bring ( think on that). You are free to post my images of my coin asking a value where you like, I give you copyright release to do so as they are my images taken by me. You know as well as I do that CU is not much for what is it worth threads gust get that gray sheet price for me. Where ever you post this coin you will get the same answers you got here some will be to your liking and some will not as the values here have been from list to over $1000.00. This is because people have different likes and dislikes, this is something you honestly need to understand and accept.
For someone not trolling you sure are going after me with a very aggressive attitude but have at it if spending all this time is that important to you. I am disabled and do not sleep that much because of my disabilities and am mostly home bound so I have all the time necessary to play this game with you. I look forward to seeing the coin posted on CU and expect, fadetoblack will post tonight as he is 3rd shipt, machoponcho will chime in with the correct title, tonedmorgans and AroraBorealis will most likly have a go at it heck even tradedollarnut mite chime in as he has commented on some of my toned Morgans that are outside the normal rainbow tone type.
Let me know when you get it done and feel free to post as if you just got the coin and are the new owner that way it will appear more legitimate.
Your buddy in our hobby, John.

You will see I gave Larry full permission to do what he wants with the images, I don't really care. It is the collectors that collect this type of coin that would pay up for it. I do not collect Colonial copper so to me the prices have no meaning and some just do not see this.
The issue being seen here on this thread is one that is a common problem, follow what I say I like or you and your opinion don't count.
I can tell you that on toned Morgans I have never lost money, can anyone else say that about their series?
