Well I got today off and spent it coining. I needed to update my catalog and get my coins labeled with their own special JWT number. Going through my collection I saw a couple coins that I haven't really had a chance to post and I feel like they need a little love.

First up are my newest photos. They work but I'm not super proud of them. At least I got the background correct.
The color is pretty close on the tet above except I managed to make the toning somehow give the rest of the coin an orange-ish hue. This picture is very close to what it looks like. This is probably the tenth time I've photo'd it.
Mmhh...not sure what I did here. Color is a little off and somehow I made the surfaces look different. In either case with the above two coins - if I bought them based off my pictures I would be happy.

The coins below need to be shared so that's why they're here. I really like them and hope you all enjoy them - even if you've seen them before.;)

Nothing like an old-fashioned random coin thread!

I picked up this Jital of the Nezak Huns today. The horseman is nice and complete, although the Sarada script is missing at the top. The bull is also complete, with very nice bold script on the reverse. All in all, a very pleasing example, although no doubt some of you Eastern aficionados will complain that without the script over the horseman, the coin can't be thoroughly attributed...

    Uh...you're in the Ancients section..."New England" doesn't qualify:D it's too "new."

Is that supposed to be a Pine Tree Shilling? I'm inclined to believe it's fake but my only reason is because you don't know what it its. I hope that makes sense. Post it in the U.S. section or maybe Coin Chat and hopefully someone who knows these chimes in. In the meantime, you can check Heritage Auctions for completed sales and see if you find something similar. Pay particular attention to the details of your coin versus ones that have sold at reputable auction houses.

Thanks THCoins. I was not remembering correctly and had the obverse and reverse mixed up in my head. Thank you for the correction!

Hey John, welcome to the forum. You'd be better off making a new thread in the US Coins forum. There are a number of experts in Colonial coinage here.

The Jital posted and JA answering with my page link reminds me that we get new members regularly enough that things we discussed over and over last year may be new to many. It also reminded me of another thing. Several of you know that I sent a pile of coins I had outgrown to JA for disposal in his sales. One coin I had as surplus was a Tye 3 Jital which I did not send because I figured no one would want it at 10% of a fair value. My page shows my two better (but still junker) Tye 3 coins and this one is not quite as nice. It makes no sense for someone to have a Tye 3 when they can have a prettier Tye 14. I'll trade it or give it to someone someday but the point is that those of us who collect something strange (JA, VK and several others - you know who you are) get excited when we find something even a little special but we still can't find anyone who cares to share our excitement. Anyone who knows enough to recognize a Tye 3 probably has found one for themselves. Such is the hobby for those who collect to a different drummer.

Since @John Anthony is going to move across the Asian Continent with his Hunnic Jital; I thought that we could go to the OTHER side of Asia to CHINA at the same time that the Roman Republic were in deep conflict with Carthage over control of the Mediterranean and for their survival!

This one is LOVED by me...
