Got some copper and a couple wheats out of 4 rolls today. The oldest was this 1918 cent...

Had a good bag of dimes yesterday, got 4 mercury dimes and one was a 1918-s, got 6 Roosevelt and 1 silver Canadian dime. A little better than I have been getting lately.

    Box o nickels - a couple of hole fillers, including 1939-S, 1941-D, and 1952-S

Had a 1942 ender - didn't look silver though, and alas, it was a 1942-D. Still a nice coin, lower mintage.

    Other less-common dates - 1938, 1940-D, 1948-D. 7 more common 40s dates, and 18 common 50s dates.

    1 2009-D

    2 2000 Bermuda 5 cents
    1 1989 Canada

First time doing a whole box at once... bummer to not get any Buffalos or war nickels, but the 39-S was a nice find.

    5 nickels
    5 pennies

Nickels were a dud, but pennies were pretty fruitful. I think i cleared out my local bank, no wheats, and last time i bought 4 rolls, no wheats either! No wheats for 9 rolls! I found a 1962 D Lincoln, which i didn't find, and i swear, I'm having such a hard time filling out my Lincoln Penny folder. Next i found a 1945 Canadian penny, I'd say a VF '39'. And My Mother pointed out a 1983 Zambia penny in the whole stash. I'd say an EF '44'.

Been working for over a week on my sister's house - long days - so I haven't had a chance to get to a bank for a while. Finally went today and picked up some boxes and customer rolls. Haven't cracked open the boxes, but went through some customer rolls this evening.

$45 in CWR dimes - found a nice 1964... and 18 foreign coins, mostly Canadian, with three 5-Pence and a Bermuda dime.

$3.50 in CWR cents - found 5 common wheatbacks, the rarest being a worn 1927.

$12 in CWR nickels - a 1951 (worn flat on both sides), 1959-D in fair condition

No treasures today, but fun looking nonetheless.

( Oh and 5 rolls were short, one nickel roll had a penny in it instead of a nickel and one penny roll had a dime instead of a penny. Hazzards of CWRs... )

    A dime in a cent roll is a 9 cent bonus! :)

That is one of the nice things about searching cents. Being the lowest denomination you can't really get hosed. Sometimes you get a different country (usually Canadian cent), but that can be a nice find too! If not then the dime you get every now and more than makes up for the difference.

Too true indeed. Found a 1929 - Low 9 - in XF condition at work a year ago. Cost 1¢; Value $7.50. Good old George V :)

True! Too bad most of the other rolls were 1 or 2 coins short.

Guess regulars don't bother to make stacks... and they can't count.

Went through a box of cents and a box of nickels this week.

BWR cents - 17 wheats (average quality & dates). 1936 was the oldest. Curiously, 7 of them were 1955-P. Also found a couple 2009s, one was near AU (Capitol building).

    BWR nickels - 20 from the 1940s, 13 from the 1950s, 2009-P, 2009-D... AND TWO PROOFS!!! 1982-S, 1989-S. Slot fillers! :)

Included in those coins were a 1948-S and a 1952-S. Pretty good box! No silver or buffalos this time, though.

    I've been searching boxes of Kennedy Halves for months but have never seen a box like yesterday's! 34 40%, 8 '64s and 2 Franklins '49 & '61.

Not a coin roll hunt, but I did have some luck down at the local Ingles grocery store. I was picking up a few things and then before I left as usual I checked the coin Star til and found a hand full of change. Results about 6 modern U.S. coins, no foreign stuff, a thick washer that I thought was a V-nickel with a hole at first and last but not least I found a 1969-D cent, a 1946 Philadelphia dime and a 1964-D quarter. Below is a picture of the good finds.

$500 in BWR halves yesterday, nothing but dirty paws for the effort.
    $25 in BWR cents
    1 1952-D
    1 Blank Zincoln

Cashed in the halves at the credit union and happened to check the reject slot before dumping my coins in:
    1 1943 steel cent
    1 1947-D Dime - silver
    1 1957 Dime - silver

The silver lining to an otherwise disappointing day was the coin machine reject slot paid out when the roll searches were miserable.

    Lousy round of CWR stuff:

    Dimes $200 - zilch
    Nickels $100
    1 1939
    2 40s
    1 2007-S proof.
    Cents $25
    1 1918
    1 1937
    4 40s and 50s
    1 Canada GVI 1947

Now onto the BWR coins later this evening, hoping my luck is better.

I normally don't post but can't help myself. I occasionally CRH when I'm on the road for work. Today, I was having a mediocre day CRH but I had this hunch to stop by this bank on my way home. It was on a major highway in an area that has been picked over for years by hunters and doesn't have much inflow from the public.

So, I went up to the teller area and asked for halves and Ikes, as I would usually do. The first teller said the expected, "No, sorry but we don't get many of those and we give them out as soon as we get them." But then a strange thing happened. The teller next to her said "I have some of those big dollar thingies." What she brought out was astonishing - something I haven't seen in my time doing this: 20151023_204207.jpg 20151023_201600.jpg

That's right - 8 Morgans and 1 Peace dollar in a roll of Ikes. Unbelievable. And the Teller was counting them out in full view of everyone and no one even noticed!

It just shows you that it's still out there and when you least expect it.
