I assumed that...but now that you've stated it I would like to know which person messydesk is Michael S. Fey, John Baumgart or Isaac Wallie. I think its awesome that we have folks like this here on the forum.
Well, it's not "outing" him as he's well known in numismatic circles online. Messydesk is John Baumgart, proprietor of VARSlab (Variety Slabbing Service), Morgan Dollar guru, the single best attributor across issues that I know and a man as good with a point-and-shoot camera as I am with a dSLR. That 1921 didn't stand a chance with John in the room.
That was sort of an inside joke - he walked up to our table at FUN a couple years ago and shot a handheld pic of a nice Morgan toner whose color I couldn't appropriately capture with the dSLR/macro lens setup I was working for the crowd at the table (demonstrating coin photography). Realistically it was a good camera and oddly-appropriate lighting (you wouldn't expect Convention Center overhead lighting to resemble axial lighting but it does), but I've been blaming his skill in public ever since.
