I would guess your scale is off, but it is still plated.

I can't believe I wasted 4 minutes of my life reading all this garbage and now.... I can never get it back...
Welcome back teachmind! Do we know whether or not it is the same person? Seems just as crazy and ignorant.

Call me crazy, but I noticed something interesting...... teachmind was a 31 year old male (I believe) so is this guy......

well, thought i would upload a couple more pics. One question, how can you professionals know what a coin may be without examining it? Give people a chance. Anyways, this is getting a metallurgical analysis. Again, I understand the plating process. It doesnt matter if you believe me or not at this point. 003.JPG

There have been more than a couple 82' off metal strikings that have sold on auction. Who in the world is teachmind?!

No, you're not wasting your time with critics, you're wasting your time trying to convince knowledgeable collectors who have seen every trick in the book a hundred times, some a thousand times. So they know a plated coin when they see one.

But please, I beg you, do send the coin to NGC. And when they tell you that it's been plated - what then ? Are you going to claim that they don't know what they are talking about ?

Without having the coin in hand or a better picture it's hard to tell what it is. You seem to not like the answers that are given, and still stand by your opinion. Send it in for attribution. That's all that can be done.

$10 says that if OP actually does send said coin off and it comes back not what he expects (which it will) we will never hear from him again.
    Any takers?

I don't understand your question(s). First off if you are 100% sure this is some type of test coin then you shouldn't have mentioned why you were asking about test coins. Last time you asked something along these lines it went terrible. So this time it would have worked better if you just asked if their were any test coins made in 1982. As for actually answer your question, maybe. A key word their is undiscovered. See we don't know if these coins exist yet but they could. They did change the composition that year and it is possible that their were other test pieces made but never used. Their is plenty of great info out there about test coins and I encourage you to check it out. As for if your coin is the real deal or plated, I will not comment, you said that you have done test and you believe it was real and it seems no ones opinion is going to change that other then NGC. I really hope you do send it of and it does come back as a real test cent and you become rich and get to laugh at everyone one here. Anyway that's just my two cents.

Always love it, "Let's see there are other nondestructive tests that can be done to help determine composition, nah lets damage it with a test that give inconclusive results."

No there haven't been. Even the one example you tried to show indicated the coin was withdrawn from sale. If you have other examples of where an off metal striking was sold please post them (Other than a cent struck on a dime planchet. Those don't apply in this case.)

Oh...c'mon...there's always ANACS, PCGS, ICG, SEGS...this could turn into a money pit.

Thanks so much for believing in me at least a little. I have been studying these lincolns for a while now; if you can BELIEVE, yes; this is a real coin and I intend to show the world. I feel bad that some people feel its plated but here goes nothing for something. I am a financially modest man with not too much to work with but I will send it out to be tested; youll be amazed by the results I assure you

    And, as his strength
    Failed him at length,
    He met a pilgrim shadow—
    "Shadow," said he,
    "Where can it be—
    This land of Eldorado?"
