1.) Buy a book about errors.

    2.) Read it.

    3.) Read it again.

4.) Post when you are done.

Your Cent is not an Error. It is PMD - Post Mint Damage. Looks like the Obverse and the Reverse were both scraped somehow especially the front. Maybe it was held against a grinder by someone very bored :meh:

You have a very expensive error, send it in to PCGS and I cannot wait to see what it comes back as.

Paddyman and Rick are correct. You can see directional lines in the zinc from an abrasive action. There are no books on PMD examples, much is common sense and knowing the minting process.

It's an error alright... I don't have the coin with me atm I wished I did but in a few hours when I get back to the house surely all those I quote " You will be proven wrong" Until then how about we show more respect to the Hobby and to the ones who is determine to take after the generation that's before. It amazes me how some ppl on here thinks they are qualify to be Judge Jury and Excutioner on certain individuals rare pieces you are suspicious spear your thoughts I there's not much you can teach me save it for yourself you're insecure. I always do my research on anything I post on this forum but I alwAys consider everyone's opinion and thoughts regardless if I don't agree... But I don't appreciate those wishes to mislead... Granted I will prove wrong the experts who claims my metals are unworthy in due time...

Oh boy, here we go again :sour:

Let's try putting it to you this way... Even IF it were an error, a high value error even, the extreem damage to it renders it valueless and the collectability non existent. It's as simple as that.

Your title asks what type of error you have. We thought you wanted honest answers as to what you had. Next time warn us that all you want is dishonest oohing and ahhing of your worthy metals.

When rolling mine, i drop a couple here and there on the concrete floor. When i get around to picking them up, they all look like that.

You know, I was all set to bash those who are dismissing you - they're just trolls, for sure - but this absurd statement tells me it's necessary to wait until you understand numismatics before supporting you.

Your coin is roadkill. Nobody who understands how coins are created could think otherwise. You ask the question regarding the coin's veracity, and then stand in wholesale denial of answers which contradict your predetermined opinion.

Numismatics will be very disappointing to you until you're actually ready to learn. If that ever becomes the case.

So I took 5 minutes, a file, and made a coin very similar to yours--cost me $0.01, value the same.

No sir! Your file marks are going top to bottom and diagonally, while the file marks on his coin are going side to side for the most part, therefore his coin is an extremely rare error that is worth not less than $26,000,080,000,920.37!
