This coin has cracks, we looked at it. It isn't glue or any other substance. Thinking it could have been left in the sun for a long time. Thanks for the help! Rather new to coin collecting in general, so sorry if I seem a little not so smart. Have a great day!
Definitely not. There are obvious cracks in it. Plus the cracks are black and I tried to chip it off the edge because some of it was on the edge. Notta, it was obviously on the coin. Thanks for the feedback though.
Sunlight does not cause metal to crack. Your coin is covered with a thin layer of a foreign substance, probably glue. Go ahead, keep arguing.
Sorry, I didn't mean to appear as rude there and making it final. I guess it IS technically a possibility. Sorry for my rudeness once again.
It's not technically a possibility, it's definitely a foreign substance. Dip it in acetone and it will come right off.
Copper won't crack. If it were a newer one made of zinc I'd say it MIGHT be cracked due to this, but I think it would just shatter:
Well...that's a strange one. I have seen IHCs with odd surfaces. Glue is the usual explanation, but here it appears the metal surface is involved. It sure wasn't struck that way. Perhaps high heat nearly melted the surface, then was cooled quickly to form cracks? Just a guess.
I would like to see a better picture of your coin. Don't take it at an angle but right over it. Put it on a white surface also. I know they told you it might be glue but I want to verify.
I heard that these 2 received a prison term of 7 years each for destroying government property ..the prosecutor used this video as evidence!
I think there was a coin that looks like this, posted a few weeks ago. I forgot what was said. I can't find the thread.
Images aren't suitable for a diagnosis. I'm 99% sure it wasn't struck this way. OP, whatever happens to a coin after being struck it's considered PMD (post mint damage) and not an error.
