Oh ! that sounds serious : you should put the low end of your back into a bucket filled with very cold water. That works fine Q
I prefer the solidus of Nap’s over ValiantKnight’s. – The face of Justinian that seems like 3d is notable at first look, but then to me these bumps on Justinian’s face, that appear like he has some sort of herpes, put the grade down from my view. – I prefer the coin of Nap’s, perhaps because I am more comfortable with low-grade coins and perhaps as well because ValiantKnight’s solidus is unusual giving the 3d face. My solidus and tremissis are even at lower grades, but so I won them in the last seconds with a hammerprice considerable lower than the cheapest fixed prices one would find at stories: Then two follies: From Theupolis, should the patina supposed to be earth of Syria? The coin have to be struck during the earlier year as there is no regnal years onto it. From Constantinople, minted during year 21, the legends are gone except “TINI” and “AVG”, but then the face is obvious. For whatever reason that coin is cleansed extremely:
Well, I love V-Knight's OP 3D-faced coin ... amazingly cool => oh, but I also like Naps and Herby's versions as well ... ... yah, all three of 'em are better than my non-version!! gawd, I need to buy more coins!!
Justinian was probably the most interesting of the Byzantine rulers, and probably the one we know the most about, and considering his coins are not extremely rare, I think it makes a good type coin if you are not specifically collecting Byzantine. If gold is out of your budget, you can get a nice bronze follis.
Thanks all! BTW how safe exactly is it to handle a gold coin (for the coin's safety I mean)? Like I know not to drop it but just normal holding in hand. I already touched it but I am just curious.
Just my 'gut reactions', since I only have one gold coin (a tremissis).... Gold is highly resistant to any corrosion but obviously a very soft metal---so I'd handle it like a modern 'Proof' coin.
