How the heck did this high-relief $20 Saint get this way?

So someone had one of these and decided to use it as a pocket piece... for several decades?

How could this happen to such an expensive and rare coin?

    Oh the humanity...

To continue stating what was already stated... I bet it was donald, and a pocket piece.. But seriously, that looks pretty nice for the grade.

  7. I find that coin more interesting than a high grade piece, but that's just me.

Perhaps a Rockefeller pocket piece. His wealth put Trump to shame. No idea how his bombast compared.

It's the Double Eagle Hockey Mask edition! Very rare. For you, only $4995.

Maybe it was JP Morgan's pocket piece.

Somebody named "Teddy" dropped it in the Brazilian jungle.

A native found it and the tribe members would rub it for "good luck".

Hmmm - a hundred years from now they might be asking the same kinds of questions as you guys are today -

That is just one of several in the same condition previously owned by me. And I sure wasn't one of the wealthy. And yes, obviously pocket pieces since those coins did not circulate. Although I did spend all of them except for this one. This one I sold to a collector.

Saints though, they did circulate, so that could just as easily be plain honest wear from use in circulation.

I agree. It's a neat piece of numismatics and, conditionally, probably much scarcer than an UNC one.

I'd be happy to own it.

    Even high relief Saints?

Does anyone know how much did they cost back then (in "today's dollars")?
