Any theories on how error coins escape the mint?

    There's a time, and a price level, at which I may become a generic PM buyer. But it's not yet, for me.

    And those contractors have been instructed by the mint to return errors found, but if they can most of them divert them to the marketplace.

    That wouldn't be a ballistic bag, that isn't even a whole regular bag. Back when coins were handled by banks on a regular basis a bag of nickels was 100 rolls. A ballistic bag would be about 4500 rolls.
