I just received the coin and no clashes in the crown, or polishing marks to get rid of them . Thats a really good sign for a new repunch variety ..
Nice => congrats, Rick!! (that's awesome news) Ummm, it's a bit too specific for my collection-tastes, but OMG => I hope that you're sweetie is worth a bundle, my cool Canadian coin-friend!! Cheers
I just heard back from him, this is the last image he wants ( date ) So far, so good . I should know in just a little bit
Its a new one, a baby boy and heres the email from Paul with a new variety number: Hi Rick, Compared it against ALL my 3/3s and could not come up with a definite match, as such I would have to say it is probably a new find. The things that I can't match are the lowest tip of the 3 which appears to be doubled (none of mine have that) and the pattern of the die maks (the dot to the 1 and the 1 to the 9). I would classify it as a R444d9 if it was in my collection. Good for you, I will have to keep my eyes open try to find a matching one. Paul
Just recived another email from Paul and the hunt is on to find which bank received them . Heres the email from Paul Hi Rick, Since shipments from the mint to banks in WWII era were about one dies output (around 20,000 coins), it was possible for all the coins from this die to ship to one location. Just wondering what part of the country this coin is from if you can tell me?? Paul
That's interesting, never realized the die output was that low, so given the '43 mintage could be about 150 dies used.
20 or so on the reverse . I also got a hold of the seller and he thinks he has another one . He also said the person he bought it from lives in Montreal . He also going to send me some images of the date and the inside of the crown too . Hes also going to get a hold of the person he bought it from and find out where he purchased the coin from . I'll keep everyone posted on whats going on. Sound like a great story for the coin world too ...
Ah, okay; the '37-58 reverses were always my favourite, I'll have to dig out the Charlton section that Paul wrote & microscope and see what I have.
Ummm, 1953 "mint set"? ... Yah, I admit that this is quite an old purchase, but I don't think that I've ever posted it before? (probably because I'm not too sure if it's merely some dude's effort in his basement bolting-together a set of 1953 coins?) => either way, I always think it looks kinda Robo-Cop cool!! ("click on it"!!) Cheers fellas .... they're all cool coins and it's all good!! => cheers, brothers (I hope that Friday night is going well for you Canadian dudes!!)
sure show us some candy, but not the other side of these coins ??? I mean really. show us candy and not give it to us ? really ? lol I gotta see the other side of this set. please. you know my love for toned Canadian coins.
Sorry, my friend ... I tried looking in the vault, but I couldn't find this set (this means one of two things => a) I may have stored it elsewhere, or b) this may have been a photo of a set that I bid-on but never managed to win!!?) ... sorry, either way (I will keep my eyes peeled and will post the flip-side, if it turns-up) ... now I feel guilty ... Ummm hey, how 'bout I show you another toned winner? (I hate to leave a buddy hangin') ... here is a cool, toned error coin ... => a 1980 25 cent piece stamped on a one cent planchet (does this get me off of the hook?)
from the same seller... here's my new toned Canadian 1953 10 CENTS NO SHOULDER FOLD, NICELY TONED NGC MS-64 EBay item number: 121756408689 for the life off me I can not get the pics.... enjoy. @stevex6 check it out...it's my first slabbed Canadian toned coin. I am hoping the scratch over the "5" in the date is on the slab and not the coin. I will still like the coin regardless if it is on the coin. got this coin today. looks even better in person. wow great toning.
yup...this gets you off the hook for sure....what a cool toner and on a cent placket too...double bonus points. lol
