Thanks, I can see that your Edward had long hair. I would suspect that these would grade EF-40??

I do not think I posted this one before, I acquired it a few weeks ago. I really like both sides! One of my favorite Greek coins!! (excuse the hair/fuzz on the coins image!!).

Hammered collectors don't really look for grades from the grading companies. I would give my own grade on these as between F and VF.....kind of upper tier of middle of the road (if that really means anything :) )

In a word - History. I love anything to do with the Medieval period especially the Plantagenets. So the interest for me is less about the coin and more about where that coin has been, who owned it and the story it could tell. Living in the UK I'm lucky to have Medieval history on right my doorstep,(I live about a mile from Kendal Castle once owned by Katherine Parr's family) however, owning a piece of everyday life in the shape of a coin is about as good as it gets.

I also like the fact the coin is hammered, created by a strike between two carefully crafted dies - not made in a factory, untouched by human hand - it incompasses, history, design, artistry and then entered people's life as a vehicle of commerce.

Won this one in the Heritage Weekly World auction last night, and it had CoinFacts images. These are the PCGS CoinFacts images edited to my template and with the label from the Heritage pictures.

I have been holding out for about 3 years for an example of this type, and this one finally got my attention. There are several dates in the series that come in VERY high grades, but I don't think I will find one to surpass this one on eye appeal plus condition anytime soon. :D

I don't do a lot of Darkside, but love the Brittanias. Been trying to find a 2012 proof that wasn't insanely priced. Picked this one up for a reasonable price--the obverse marks are on the mint capsule, not the coin:

anyhow it is a toned coin from France 1961, 5 francs, NGC MS-64, toned on both sides of the coin. my birth year (1961) is just a bonus. enjoy.
