    It was a normal mint mark when it left the mint.
    Since then? Circulation took it's toll.

    Ditto who? That last ditto should have been here not ditto there. No I'm wrong, it was ditto when.

    I'm with the OP that the mint mark looks odd. There's no real value in counterfeiting it, so it is likely genuine, but is it possible that it's repunched over another S and just a bit off center from the first mint mark or even a lamination or start of a break at the mint mark?
