    I totally agree with princeofwaldo. And for the comment that this happened before in the U.S. in the 1920s, well, that was for the same reason. When the middle class is hurting so are their abilities to pay much for collections. Unless this economy is turned around, selling coins in the U.S. will be a losing experience. And my observations at coin shows tells me there are very few young people collecting coins. Proportionally, they use social media more than the pre-computer generation so it may give the impression that there is a growing interest in collecting in their age group on this forum.

    I'm currently listing a large world coin collection on eBay, with starting prices 1/4 of book, but because of shipping costs and restrictions, I'm only selling in the U.S. I generally don't sell a coin until I've listed it for 10% of book or 99¢. Since I've already recovered my investment in these coins, I'm not worried about a perceived loss. I've started with Scandinavian coins, because the collector I acquired them from had more of those. It has been very slow. Danish coins just don't sell very well here at all. I don't think Danes emigrate to the U.S. anymore. Their middle class is the best off in the world from the survey's I've read. Politically, I think that speaks for itself. The other challenge for future collecting is climate change. As civilization faces increasing challenges with related costs and physical challenges, I wonder what it will mean for collecting.

    GDJMSP - are you referring to the GB collection? If so, very nice material!
    Not sure if I navigated the site correctly to get there. If there is more, please provide link. Z

    as for me, the main and the only reason is that the rouble/ $ exchange rate increased doubly;
    I've made several purchases in January 2015 when it was 55 rur/$, now we have....70 rur/ $ )))
    for example - 2014 started at 33 rur / $

    Yeah, I wondered if it would work. For some reason search result links are user specific. So do this, go here - https://www.cointalk.com/forums/albums-cointalk.69/

    Once there then you have to do your own search, but it's simple. Just go up to the Search box at the top of the page, click on it, and then type my name - GDJMSP - into the box labeled Posted By Member. Then click on the search button, that will give you a listing of the coins in my albums.

    Same procedure will work to find the albums for any forum member.

    Just did that. Not a great search function as I get the list of all albums by all users.

    Just go to the first page of the albums from 2008. I think it's pages 54 and 55. You'll see Doug's albums there.

    That sounds like what you say you are seeing. But you have to take 1 more step. Once on that page go up to the Search box, place your cursor in it and click, and type in GDJMSP, and then hit your enter key or click on the search button. That will bring up this -
