Not sure if you are asking for us to guess the grade, or just showing off a new piece. I'd grade it 63. I don't see the doubling on the 3, all I see is a little MD. Congrats on the purchase! It appears to be an attractive coin.
I don't see any doubling either , maybe a closer pic would help but it seem like MD like physics fan said . Hope I'm wrong though .

The image on coins and canada isn't to good . When I receive the coin I'll photo the date and send the image to coins and canada to hopefully add to their site . Heres a 1959 hanging 9, canadian cent I added to their images . The one they had showing was as bad as that image .

Rick: You posted the same query on the CinC site. I said that I'd get the 50 cent guru to answer you, but his reistration has not been OK'd yet. Here is what he told me to pass: "The term 'Double Die' as used by ICCS is a result of a Charlton definition to denote a reverse or obverse that had a doubled letter or number on it. There are over 20 1943 reverses that have a double or triple punched 3 that fit this definition. I have seen several being used on ICCS holders. Several of these were 3/3s can be found in the Variety section of Charlton's 68th. 'Double Die' is somewhat confusing as it is close to 'Doubled Die', but they mean two different things ….… 'Doubled Die' refers to a die with hub-doubling." Paul has written the complete bible for 50 cents and it was his work that was in the Charlton variety section, but Charlton can't put everything in those 50-60 pages at the back. Paul has everything and can tell you exactly what you have. I'll give you his email. Send me a PM. B

UPDATE: A lot has happen since I received this coin, it will be a new variety and the number is: R444d9 ... The ‘Flat-back 9’ continues. Starting in 1943, approximately half of the dies were chrome plated to increase die life. The appearance of the coins changed from having a satiny finish to a more polished appearance for those from the chrome-plated dies. The chrome-plating in early years had a tendency to peel, leaving a ‘mortar-set’ or shelf on the coins, which can be found on Obverses and/or Reverses. 1943 was also the first year of extensive Reverse Die refurbishment, with over twenty Reverse dies with date digit doubling (re-punched or double-punched).
