I'll ha e to say no but there are some die chips around the 3. Looking at my references and your first image, it was a tough call. Still a very nice coin no matter what .

It's a Type 2. The large P above Monticello is the give away. No mint mark on the Type 1.

From your pictures I'd say it's a proof

    I agree.

I misunderstood Gonzo's question. I thought he was asking if it was a T-2.

    Thanks Bob I appreciate it.

    Thanks Jester

So if this is indeed a proof 1942 TII Jefferson than I think I cherrypicked this one, I saw it at the coin store, however I am not familier with this proof and my newness to the world made it difficult. I did notice the nice mirror finish and the strong features to include the steps so I went for it. I paid a whooping $9 for it. I figured even if it wasnt a proof the full steps would lead to a higher value then what the coin was selling for. Now that it has been confirmed that it is a proof I think I scored big time. I will take better pictures of it once I get my imaging station set up again. Thank you all for the assistance.

Looks like a double profile from your images, as well as a rpm. Nice coin.

Paddy thanks for the reply. I looked at the coin and the doubling is due to glare, however the MM does have something behind it so I am thinking you are right on the RPM. Do you know where I can get information on this one? again thank you.

Yes you can go to varietyvista.com and down load all the varieties for the Jefferson nickels . But are you sure about that double profile? As if you look at an WDDO -004 there are some pups I like to have a clearer image.
