Nice coins, but how would the results have differed if you had left a proxy bid or used a sniping service?

I can understand that the excitement of the hunt was part of the attraction, but the highest bid wins and yours was the highest.

Nice score just about each one a repunched date ,you did extremely well two thumbs up!
Looks like the 1831 has a misplaced date above the one. You can see the 1 of the misplaced 1, I almost bet on that one.......
The 1858 looks to be an over date look at the last 8 there's another digit under the 8 .

Good eye my friend..... I was guessing it was an over date by the looks of the digit and what's laying under it. I would just about bet the farm on it. Great score and yes well worth loosing a tad bit of sleep. LoL I'm up at 4 am est daily so it wouldn't be a lost of sleep unless I was to excited to sleep the night before.

The 1806 is there an over date on that specimen also? If not it looks to have been repunched with two different style 6's. Notice the underlying 6 is smaller and the six is smaller than the primary 6, you can see the top runs parallel under the top loop.

The 1853 looks to be a skinny date under a thicker date. It looks like it's also a totally different type of digit,as well as the thickness .

The 1857 has an larger 1 then the other digits. Somewhere there has to be an English version of the Cherry pickers guide.

There are several U.S. coins that have slanted digits .To tell you at this time which ones they are I can't , My mind is still in the work mode as apposed to the numismatic mode. There are also several where the type style of the digits are different .
I always have had a mind set that during this time period coins or money in general was produced for one purpose commerce .The workers who ran the presses were not educated but skill workers. There job was to provide currency for the public. I will venture to say, no one ever thought in September of the year 2015 people would be talking around the World about the Coins they produced. Before they had lunch on any given day in their life time working at a mint.

To the variety collector like myself it's a gold mine! I always hear the nay - sayers that this could not happen,no way is that from a mint employee , pmd, or whatever . ...
I may not be able to explain the reason that things happen but, I do keep an open mind as to this hobby .

OK to name a few early U.S. half cents different size digits , the 1865 IHC plain 5 fancy 5, U.S. Large cents the 1847/7, the 1818 U.S. bust half pincher variety the top of the 8 looks like a lobster claw, mint marks various Large,Small, and even a medium, Mint marks designed for other coin series, open 3's closed 3's,slanted 5 ' s as well as straight ones. Broken letters , skinny dates under thick ones, the list can go on and on.......and to the doubtful I love saying this the 1919 ddo Mercury dime just discovered this year......some 35,740,000 minted, used ,and collected yet ......the ddo just discovered some 96 years after coined. So varieties and rare coins are still out there waiting to be found.

On the 1855 the one is straight the 8 Slightly tilted to the left, but still as high as the first slanted 5,however the last 5 on the same angle as the first but looks to be a smaller digit. Maybe it's the image but sure looks smaller or lower from the photo.

As for the 1806 maybe be a strike through under the 8,looks like a part of another 8 or a foreign object . I must admit these coins excite me. They offer a lot as far as varieties . You have a good eye for sure.
