Not even close of being a genuine coin! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1911-S-Indi...6f6fb09&pid=100005&rk=3&rkt=6&sd=231667022342
Man, if that's a fake then it's a darn good one. I can't see anything wrong with it other than what might be a casting bubble right below the leaf closest to the mint mark. Scary indeed.
my problem has been with eBay lately ... having reported several sellers , selling fake U.S. coins ...$19.99 for a trade dollar with free shipping really HOW CAN IT BE REAL ? two weeks later .. still selling them
I am still waiting on the OP to say why they think this is fake. Looks good to me, and I collect lots of gold.
Boy, would I be pi$$ed if someone called a genuine coin I was selling on eBay a counterfeit on a public message board. I'm all for outing fakes, but make sure you are right and can back up your claims before posting in public. Discuss with others in private first if you need to.
Hmm... If Ebay doesn't do anything about fake sales, perhaps I could find my fortune by going to Ebay and selling: "Authentic 1974 aluminum cent, only a few have ever been found! Low price of only $4,000! Hurry, only 300 available!" I'm kidding of course. I'd never do something like that, but I'm sure there would be buyers out there somewhere.
I don't know about coin grading, but on an MS 62, wouldn't you be able to see details of the eyes? I see no eyes on the indian or the eagle of this coin. This picture shows details of the eyes on both sides:
Still doesn't look right to me. Where is the eye on the indian? Looks as though someone ripped it out of it's socket. I'm not calling it fake and I'm not calling it real because I have no idea. I'm only doing a comparison. If I were thinking of buying this coin I would pass it up after comparing the coin to the pcgs example. I might be losing out on a good deal, but then I feel it's better to err on the side of caution when it comes to something that valuable.
Anyone who makes such an accusation should at least try to explain/defend their position; unfortunately, too many of these threads end up mostly finger pointing and little fact. With that said, it is only fair we wait until he signs back in to see if he will explain.
