Great additions and if you have interest in hammered coins, we should talk! I am new to the forum and I look forward to meeting others who share in my interest in these coins. Here is a newer addition to my collection. Rare Kingston Upon Hull mint.
Medieval ? Hmmm ! I love them too Nothing very old but here's a decent Lizzy I sixpence Six pence, 6th type, 1591 Ref : Spink # 2578 B Q
Great new additions, tobiask (I love 'em both!!) Duke of Milan, Bernabo & Galeazzo II Visconti 1355-1378 AD Serpent with maiden & Ambrose on Throne
here's an other italian job from venice. Venice, AR Gross, 1394-1399 AD O: Doge Antonio Venier and St. Mark, R: Christ enthroned, 22 mm, 2.1 g
It's kinda funny too ... for these medieval babies are really, really thin, but they have fairly big diameters!! (basically, the opposite of the ol' Greek incuse babies) apparently hammer-time was quite a different process when compared against the incuse-method ... => man, coins are so fricken cool, eh?
This one a little out of my area of my focus but such an amazing example of a James I shilling, I just had to have it! The toning and strike are about as good as it gets. 1603-1625
