Yet another slab sticker. Littleton Coin is now putting their own sticker on slabs designating top quality. You in?
pretty soon the entire slab is going to covered with these stupid stickers. Learn how to grade your own coins people and stop relying on various stickers for quality assurance. Having said that, I still would value the opinion of John Albanese and Rick Snow.
omg...this is getting too complicated. CACs and these stickers just denote that make the grade, likely at a 'B' or 'A' level, whatever that means. Buy the coin, not the holder and not the sticker.
A couple weeks ago I started this thread to point out and make fun of the absurdity of slab stickers. It's one thing to have a coin certified. Certification gets the coin authenticated (real or counterfeit) and slabbed (sealed and protected) along with actually being graded in hand. It's a different thing to get a sticker. That's basically just an opinion on top of an opinion. Whereas that second opinion is made through observations of the coin while inside a plastic slab. In conclussion, I wouldn't pay a premium for a sticker.
Love your expression. To Para "an opinion on top of an opinion" Goes to show that there is a market for everything. The next trend will be to "collect" the stickers by Grading Co; by coin; and by grade. Possibilities are endless
I don't have a slab in my collection. I think that TPGs is for the investors not the collectors like myself. Folks will sometime ask "how much is that coin worth", I'll say "I don't know I have had it for over 30 years". If there is something I like and I can afford it without breaking the bank I buy it. I have never sold any of my coins.
