I don't see a real upside on these but it's still a nice set. Ordered 5 sets - will keep the best 2 (an A and a B) and return the other 3 sets back to the mint. I couldn't be bothered with eBay to make a few pennies.
The second 5 had some packaging bits within the capsules that looks to be black. Maybe this is what is being called "black spots". Opening the capsules and using an ear syringe to blow these bits away solves that problem.
The mint is looking into how this happen because they said they found a few people with two accounts and your only allowed to have one account.
Where have you heard this? And how do you stop "me" from having an account, and my wife from another? And my parents? And relatives?
Oh they'll figure out sumthin'! Just to please the folks who live in black and white worlds and then whine incessantly when gray wanders by. As for me, well, I have two accounts with two separate shipping addresses serviced by two different cards. Do you suppose the US Mint will want to limit accounts according to an individual name? If that's the case, I really feel sorry for the second James E. Smith since his account will get cancelled regardless of where he is. And the third and the fourth and the fifth individuals who also have that name. Look, if a store has a fantastic sale on an item and limit the purchases to 5 per customer. Exactly what is wrong with going into the store on two separate occasions and purchasing five? Or three separate occasions or four separate occasions? Do folks have to wait 6 months before they buy 5 more? 6 weeks? 6 days? 6 hours? And since the whining is at a constant continuum, have these whiners forgotten that these items are "STILL" available at the US Mint? Its not as if those folks that want them haven't already gotten them. But, given human nature to be afraid of literally everything that they do not understand, I suppose the whining should be expected.
What I don't understand is why people buy new mint items from somebody on ebay while they can still buy them from the mint on their own at a lower price.
I am actually trying to work out a deal with someone to sell all my sets (30 or so) for just a couple dollar profit each. He is a larger dealer who puts complete presidential dollar sets together to sell, so he needs multiples.
And people wonder how dealers manage to get their hands on large quantities of limited edition coins and sets. take the above and multiply it by hunderds if not thousands of people and of smaller dealers selling what they accumulate to bigger wholesale dealers and you very rapidly have the big wholesalers with thousands of "limited" sets.
And I have no issues at all with it. He is allowing me to make a small profit, and he is taking the risk with these. I am glad to get a large amount off my hands.
Arrived today ...both coins looked about the same but wanted to include the notes. I have 2 more sets that are due in Monday.
I like that first note number... cool! I have one so far with a decent number.. not great though. 91102001
How is that not one of the BEST numbers? These notes are specially selected to reflect the remembrance of 9/11 and here you are with the month, day, and year all in a nice pretty little row. That's a keeper SN for sure and likely a small premium if marketed right.
hehe, I just wanted to see if anyone picked up on it.. I WISH I had this serial number. In my opinion, that number would be worth more than any PR70 coins. I do have an interesting number (ends in 00 or 000 I think), but not the one I said. Good catch though
