I finally got my order to go through. Looks like someone may be trying to corner the market on these.
Mintage is 90,000. However, unlike the 2014 set, the dollar bill has collector significance and some may pay big money for a specific serial number. I look at this set as like playing the lottery...lol
The shopping networks must have a lot of people buying these. I had them in the shopping cart went to check out and they are gone
As a professional purchasing director, I can only describe the process as 'painful.' It took 23 minutes to spend $19.90 for just one item. Preloading credit card info, wish list, name, address. Did nothing. Refreshed two and three times for every step.
check your Orders dwhiz. I had that happen to me at about 10 past the hour. It happened when I was trying to complete the final step. Turns out it had completed but didn't show the final page.
26 minutes later, after adding to basket and having to crawl back to product page and startover, I think I got an order through...what a joke...
Not someone I think we all already know who through their offers sent to customers offering that pay them double to order something and have it sent to them. Or the fact that shopping networks end up with thousands of products that are limited to say 2 or 5 per household. The key part in those communications they send though is the 'we will place the order for you, if you provide billing info'. Now I don't know if anyone actually thinks they have enough reps to sit there and go through entering customer info one by one; but things like this are very easily done by automated software created for such a purpose. I have no idea if I got out with my order the first time I placed my order the screen simply reloaded the order screen asking for payment info again. The second time I did get a confirmation screen but if I have two orders in there now I hope the mint doesn't cancel them because I tried to buy more than my limit when it was their site issues creating the problem for me.
I think word is out in Flipperville that easy money can be made off these products, and many non-collectors are trying to get in on the profits. 90K should not have cause this to happen...plenty to go around.
9:25 AM PST -Order USM03487xxx That was the worst ordering experience of my life. 25th Anniversary Silver Eagles....Gold Kennedy's...Truman & Ike's.....this $15 product beat them all in terms of difficulty
You could be right. An automated ordering system could overwhelm the Mint site. Regardless, I got 5 now that HSN will never see.
Possibly. I won't know until my order gets processed and updated. I figured it would be easy peasy what with a 90,000 limit but I was oh so wrong. It took me 30 minutes of agonizing refreshing just to get an order placed.
I have now received the obligatory 2 emails from the US Mint for my order. Funny, you can login quickly now. I had 25 of them in my cart, which of course I just removed.
