Made ya look......... Dealer junk bin find. Would have been ecstatic if I found this in the change as a kid.........$2.
Funny thing though that coin in the early mid 60's would be a hard find in circulation . These were like hens teeth . In 1963 money this coin value be around $10-12, in 2015 money about $95. +/- .
Exactly Paddy......you just couldn't find one in circulation.....which is how we sods used to do it (collect) in the old days. In order to keep my collection current (back then) I had to resort to purchasing one via mail order.......J.J. Teaparty? $24. That was a lot of money for a 13 year old back then.
Ken it was the ONLY hole I had in my Jefferson collector ! $24 in 63 equals $190.00 today! And to drive home a fact..... I wanted a pair of Jack Percell's tennis shoes cost $5.25 @ pair. What I got was a pair of waffle stompers from the wire rack at the A&P. [ A&P = food store] waffle stompers would track mud and dirt in on mom's floor. That equaled getting your butt kicked! Jack's had plain soles wouldn't hold dirt ..... my plan to sell mom and dad to buy me the Jack Percell's. Well worth spending the $2.75 extra.
