The silver weight of a dime is more than that, unless it's worn completely slick. 2.5 grams times 90% = 2.25 grams of silver. 2.25 grams divided by 31.1 grams per troy ounce = 0.07235 troy ounces per dime. 0.07235 times 15.52 = 1.12 -- or just look it up on Coinflation, as @eddiespin suggested.
Gold and Silver are tangible assets, paper is not, no matter what is printed on it. I've said it before. I'll say it now. Gold, Silver Copper and Lead (a bullet) are the 4 most precious metals. I'll say it again, I'm sure. Look at the price of a commodity over time. Buy on the dips, hold and sell high. You'll never time the market. You'll never seel at the peak and you'll never buy at the bottom, but you can come close.
I'm using the weight as in troy ounces as listed in the Yeoman Red Book. I do apologize as I now realize that the per ounce I used was from a war nickel. A silver dime does contain .07235 ounces of silver and at today's closing price that is $1.10.
