I went to the bank the other day and asked if they had any half dollars. Luckily, this was the one time ever they actually did. The clerk started counting them out and I spot these two brilliantly white coins. I'm eyeing the two hungrily while trying to make small talk and act casual. I pretty much ran to the car and tore open the bag like it was Christmas morning. Lo and behold, a 1964 and a 1968! 10 bucks worth of silver for the low cost of 1 dollar. Best part - this is the first time I have EVER requested half dollars from the bank. My father is the one who usually goes to banks and asks for Ikes and Kennedys. Beginners luck? I'm beginning to think I should sell that silver and invest in the lottery with my luck
For all the silver hunters out there get thee to the oldest /smallest bank branches/credit unions in the out-of- the way towns and ye will find what you seek!....
I'm on good terms with all the employees at my local bank. They save bills and coins for me. Almost everyday one of them has something and I get it all at face.
I received a 1941 Mercury Dime in change from Checkers in Belleview, Fl. last week. Very dark and dirty.
The current price for silver is $15.52. Multiply that by the silver weight of a dime .05626, which equals $.873. That is what your dime is worth.
Bummer. I still remember when I got an ounce of silver for 18 dollars (when it was 19 an ounce) and thinking I got a great deal!
Sure hoping! Although I've read about the coming gold and silver crash... Some "experts" predict gold will be down to 350 an ounce. When (if) that day comes, there goes what's left of my "retirement" fund!
It's down $.19 for the day but let it drop. That means you can buy more. Even it drops like you're hearing, don't panic. Buy more, hold and wait. It will go up.
I like having gold and silver more than having stocks or other things. My reasoning is that in the event of a total governmental and economic meltdown, gold and silver will always have *some* value. If the United States disappears, US currency will be worth nothing more than their melt value. So I like having precious metals in a glass box that says "break in case of apocalypse"
Oh right. Lol. If it ever gets to that point, civilization will have collapsed. Better be thinking of getting a gun while you're admiring your gold and silver.
