Since I don't use sniping programs I am almost always at my computer when auctions end. Therefore I pay immediately. This is good etiquette but I have to admit selfish motivations play a part, because I am impatient to receive the coin I just bought.

Sometimes buyers don't even know they won. I usually give it 2 or 3 days and then I send them a PM. If they want the item, they'll pay, if not we'll fight it out another way.

    Nobody said this yet so....

I'm not thrilled with the idea of keeping my money in PayPal. I keep it empty, and when I buy something I transfer the money to PayPal for that purchase. Now, I always send a message to the seller in case they would prefer to cancel it rather than wait for the transfer, but that has never been the case. Every time, the seller was amicable. It's not my fault PayPal isn't a "bank" and doesn't have the protections a bank has. It's also not my fault that PayPal takes 5-7 business days to complete it.

My account has less than 80 transactions since I had to start new in 2007. They wouldn't let one person in a joint account relinquish a claim and told me I had to deactivate the joint account and activate one in my name only.

I guess I could be considered a slow payer and a fast payer. If I buy with free shipping or BIN I pay instantly if a seller has combined shipping and I'm bidding on other items I wait until the auctions end. I do try and message the seller to let them know I am bidding or watching other items. I also use a bank account for PayPal so I never keep money in the account until I buy an item. I haven't ever had a seller get upset, but I still get non payment claims opened even after the seller says take all the time you need. Most non payment notices are set up automatically I believe, and when I get one I contact the seller to be sure they haven't changed their mind about waiting. I also only make deposits weekly because I buy a lot of common low end stuff for the grand kids and my bank doesn't want 20 deposits a week for $5 to $20 as they said the auditors will red flag these as suspicious for some reason. Either way communicate with the seller when taking your time and vise versa.

I have been pinged a few times, but in over 6K transactions never failed to pay. My work requires me to travel out of the country from time to time, and I will not do banking over a public wifi, which is all that is available sometimes. People live busy lives, a little grace from the seller might result in a life long loyal customer.

Leaving Neg. comments in a Green Pos. Feedback might get you tossed off ebay.
    With 2500 Pos. @ 100% I wouldn't choose that course.

What if you have more auctions that are not BIN, which end on various days after the 1st one a buyer bid on?
Shopping for a few things at a brick & mortar is no ones idea of buying when it comes to very specific collecting fields.
If they don't ask you to wait to combine items to save on S&H, thedn maybe you call them out.
Doesn't ebay now frown on sellers who make too many complaints about late payers?
As far as their concerned, they need buyers just as much as sellers.

Ebay tell buyers they have 7 days.

Not paying in 3 days is not a problem as ebay says buyers should get 7 days.
Ebay has stopped sellers from posting auction for giving too many buyers Non Payer complaints before the 7 days had passed.

Forget about That. Buyers have the cash that keep ebay running.
Ebay thinks you as a seller are Lucky to have their service to move you stuff.
To that end, they don't even policve fraud posts if no window shopper doesn't Report them, since even fraud items bring home the bacon.

Depositing/transferring money to your PP account to cover your won auctions is too much work.
Just add to PP your checking account, which should be attached to your savings for personal transfers, and let ebay take the exact payment for any win straight out of your checking. Your bank will take any under funds from your saving account if you don't have enough in the checking.
No one who hacks PP will get your personal bank account access.

I love that you pay say in a hour after you win and it takes the dealer 5 days to send out your lot

    Incorrect -

    "Policy overview
When a buyer wins an item or uses Buy It Now to purchase an item, the buyer is obligated to complete the purchase by sending full payment to the seller.

If a buyer doesn't pay within 2 days, a seller can open an unpaid item case in the Resolution Center. If the buyer still doesn't pay or reach some other agreement with the seller, eBay may record the unpaid item on the buyer's account."

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/unpaid-item.html

I use eBay's automated unpaid item filing service in which the company (eBay) opens cases for me on the 4th day of unpaid. If not paid within 3 days, which yes that means the 7th day then I get my fees & the bidder gets an unpaid strike.

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/unpaid-item-assistant.html

In addition to that eBay "says" you should get 7 days to pay but that is not what eBay wants or what sellers want. I don't go to McDonalds & get a Big Mac & tell them I'll pay next week or in a few days .I feel any person that hits the BIN or is going to win an auction should be ready to pony up the payment right away.

I would find your statement false since that would mean eBay would suspend me from making listings for using the service that THEY provide by filing on the 4th day.

Luckily there are only a hand full of slow payers out there on my listings. So eBay has not had to file many on my behalf before the "7" days are up.

I've always paid the second after I won an auction or BIN'd.

I don't understand people who don't. Individual people buy and/or sell so much on eBay that they can't keep up with what they've bought?

Yes, slow shipping by the sellers is just as big a problem as slow payers.

My daughter in law did that and she got hacked and lost nearly $3000 because PayPal was linked to her checking account. It took her several months to recover the money which she did but is still trying to correct hits to her credit report and the past due charges she incurred.

I explicitly state in my description that if the buyer wants to make different payment arrangements, or need a few days to let me know. It's the expectation that I'm good "pulling my inventory off the shelf" to wait for the buyer, and not telling me about it that frustrates me. Just tell me....I'm easy to work with.

I hated that too..that's why one of my rules is that I usually ship the same day. Now some dealers I've bought from are physically not available because they're at a show, but if I got to that point, I'd be training the kinds to print, pack, and ship!

I just had a guy that messaged me after winning an auction telling me he would pay in 24 hours. 10 days later I had to do a case to get the coin released for resale. A week after that it was relisted then the guy messaged me saying he was ready to pay, after about 4 messages and an E-Bay case which is a hassle all in itself. I told him it was relisted and he said I ripped him off. That was right after a guy bought a PL Morgan from me, decided he didn't like it, and filed a false advertising case without a single message or request to return. How can you false advertise with 6 pictures? I am sick of E-Bay.
