As a side note - the situation with Procopius is similar to that of Vetranio in terms of "used to be rare/scarce" now is quite common but while that affected the prices for Procopius, Vetranio coins still seem to hold better price-wise.
Thanks Eng! I am glad my wife supports my hobby/diversion. Makes life a little easier, but a responsibility not to abuse the privilege (especially since she was with me, and a "constrained" myself to only dropping a C-Note...)
That reminds me of a night we had our club banquet, my wife was with me and we had a auction of a metal (that we strike every year) there were three metal errs in the auction. one member wanted to buy all three. so being the funny guy that i am. i opened the bid $200, knowing he was going to buy them at any price.my wife grabbed my arm and stuck her claws in, $200 are you crazy she said. well it was bid up to over $300( not by me).like others her don't take the wife to coin shows and run to the mail box before her.
excellent coin show scores ! those mauryans are nice, i've posted mine recently but i'll post them again...
Of the two punch marks, the first one is Mauryan. I can make out the Ashoka symbol the three oval's with the line through it, but I have the symbol on coins attributed early or given a blanket attribution. If indeed these coins circulated until Kushan times 1-4rd century AD, then I doubt that either of these coins were used by the later Sunga. Number #2 seem interests me more, there is a very nice 3 arched hill. I would think this is the newer of the two. Chrsmat is starting to put together a rather intriguing collection of these. I have only a few special ones..
