I have a Grant with Star heading my way and wanted to get some opinions on grade while I waited for it to arrive. Sorry these are the photos I have, but will take some of my own when it arrives. Thanks.

Most MS commems are practically impossible to grade from photos, because so much is dependent on the luster. On top of that, on this piece, the reverse will hide almost all contact marks, so anything I say is pretty much a shot in the dark. :p

Whis photo doesn't really show luster, but, based on surfaces, and with the caveats I mentioned, I wouldn't be surprised at a 64 or 65.

It's lack luster details due to the toning I give it an Au tops. Judging from the images shown.

I'm not seein' any wear or 'rubs'........luster appears to be lacking, but that's probably the photo. I say the TPG's will go with '65.

This coin was burned very bad when who ever was cleaning it . Look at the lettering on the obverse and the house on the reverse too..

I don't see any reason that would not garner a 65, but from that picture it could go +- from there.

Anyone else seeing this and agree with this statement? I don't see it, but that doesn't mean @Rick Stachowski isn't correct. I don't want a coin that slipped through the cracks and got slabbed. Thanks guys.

Look at the field in front of grants face, I'm thinking thats staining and thoses black spot around the lettering, I think caused it, because they dipped the coin, at least from theses images ..

Nope. I think you just have an un-photogenic coin. It may look better (or worse!) in hand.

UPDATE: The coin arrived very late! Lol. But it finally arrived and I just took some photos and have posted them. I've looked at this under my glass and any lines on this coin are die polish lines. Everyone of them is clearly raised and it appears that this is pretty common for this Commemorative. Take a look and give me your thoughts. Thanks.

My opinion is still roughly the same. This coin has patches of very dark toning that really doesn't suit me (by which I mean I wouldn't buy it for my collection, but I'd have no problem buying it to resell if I were a dealer). I think it's a fine coin with decent eye appeal and probably grades 64-65 depending on luster.

Also, your photo is much better than the seller's photo.

Great coin. Nice toning. At least a 64.
