My 1st round of Coins to CAC

Hey all!
I just sent in my first submission to CAC this week and am hoping for a few green beans at the very least. These coins have already been posted individually in other threads throughout the year, but they really are some of my favorites and I believe the CAC gods will view them favorably.
The Walker, Franklin & $2.50 were all bought raw....and I don't think PCGS gave 'em a fair shake, (sound like anyone else that has sent coins in for grading?). lol
The 1936 San Diego should get a gold bean, IMHO! I took a quick shot of them together, and some individual photos for a better idea of what they are. Anyone care to give any guesses as to which one(s) will "bean"?

I really like that V nickel!

 

I can't really comment on anything but the Franklin. I think it should get the green. It's about as close to a 66 as it can be and still be a 65. Just barely enough chatter on the bell and Franklin's ear and jaw area to hold it back, I think.
Also, the strike is a bit weak even for a San fran issue.

 

Very nice coins! How do you submit to CAC? I know this has been discussed before. Are you a member, or sending through someone else?

 

@Big-Greek & @bsowa1029 ~ Both of the coins you guys mentioned were purchased at last years Chicago World's Fair of Money Show....the only 2 from this lot. So if anyone is thinking about attending this year, expect to find some CAC-worthy coins! And thanks! I think the Franklin could have had a little (+), but I guess the weak strike did hold it back.

@jwitten ~ yes indeed, first you have to get on CAC's waiting list to be a member...then they'll send a membership package....if they like you, lol
But a good way to do it is to just submit through someone else. I think GreatCollections does it on a lot of their consignments.

 

My guesses are the Franklin, the V Nickel and maybe the SLQ. Good luck on your submission!

Don't be disappointed if you don't receive any gold beans. In my opinion, CAC is the least consistent with these. I have seen multiple pieces that only green been and when the pieces come back from the TPGs with upgrades, CAC subsequently green beans them at the higher grade in the new plastic. Go figure!

 

P.S. The images make it hard to grade, but I think many of the coins stand a good shot with CAC for green beans. Many of them appear original and quite attractive to me.

 

Nice batch of coins. Good luck on the submission. Even if a couple don't come back with stickers I still like all of them.

 

The V nickle is your best bet. IMHO.

To get a gold bean the coin has to be pretty much an A+ of the higher grade.

 

Actually, I was being very stupid and overlooked (I only skimmed the first part of your post) that you and actually posted larger photos. My thoughts are:

V Nickel - hard to tell with the scratches on the plastic

1923 25c - Not CAC (what is going on on the reverse?)

1944 50c - Not CAC (Obv. abrasions)

1953-S 50c - Green bean

1879-S MS63 Morgan $1 - Not CAC (Chatter)

1885 MS65 $1 - Green bean

1907 $2.50 - Not CAC (Chatter)

1936-D SD 50c - I don’t see the enlarged photo. Based on the group photo and the one side, it looks PQ. Based on the obverse only, if the reverse is all there, it has a shot at a gold bean.

 

Maybe someone should explain to me what the CAC sticker represents. Does it just mean that the grading was correct or is it a plus to the grade? Or does it mean something else?

It means that the coin is solid or high end for the grade. Even if a coin is correctly graded but is low end for the grade, it will not sticker.
