Nice! He must have taken some anti-acid tablets a few moments ago! I know this may sound stupid, but where is the "southern mint"
The only 3 dudes I have from this ERIC-II grouping are Postumus, Victorinus and Allectus ... "Secessionist States" => so here they are:
I dunno. There are discussions as to where the mints were for the Gallic Emperors. Many belief Cologne and Trier and Lyons. But there is an argument there may have been a mint at Milan. I use the term "Southern Mint" straight off the wildwinds website.
Well my wise ol' buddy, I'm not even that picky => I merely look at the "pink tab" in my $150(US) ERIC-II coin book (by far my favourite coin book) ... oh, and as I stated above, the grouping is called "Secessionist States" NOTE => I merely plays 'em as I sees 'em .... your beliefs may be correct?
Nice => that's a sweet lookin' Postumus, my friend (well played) => same reverse as my new sweet OP coin
This full legend one isn't mine anymore, JA sold it down the river and back to Europe after none here wanted it. I hold the rough edge against your coin more than the weak reverse that caused me to sell this one. It is all a matter of opinions and grading.
This is my best Victorinus. You can see him peaking out under the Carausius struck over him. or same type without Carausius
Nice coins, Doug ... I probably would have bought that one, but I couldn't figure-out how to bid in those JA-auctions!! anyway, I actually really like the rough edge of my new sweetie ... yah, the whole package seemed to be speaking to me (along with Larry & Buster) I like the big flan, the brownish colour, the awesome crisp portrait and that sweet, strong reverse => so you're quite correct about what we seem to look for in a coin (funny, eh? ... man, I love that part of this hobby) ... but yah, I do wish that the obverse legend was 100%, but it was peeking through, so I still considered the legend close-enough when added to its other pluses.
I don't have a Victorinus but stopped by just to say how much I love the the title... "correctlyish" . I'll try to work that into conversation soon.
Great posts guys... ...and I'm glad to see you go after a few of those Emperors Steve---like you, it's not even close to my primary goal, but I keep those 'album holes' in mind as I bid on various items each month...my latest acquisition is of Quietus.... My Victorinus is already posted so I'll pass on uploading another photo of my modest coin...
Thanks for posting your great coins, gang ... and thanks for the overall coin comments (I love hearing your opinions on my purchases)
hmmmm? ... yah, I always find it a bit curious why people "like" coins .... => apparently, this coin did not fare too well ... I thought this baby was gonna be dead-center and it'd gather a whole "bunch" (sh*tload) of likes .... but again I am incorrect ... Oh well, little Victorinus => don't be sad .... hmmmm, but you're 100% correct => Allectus is gonna totally give you the gears, my friend!! I agree that this coin is mid-road (but I did think that it had everything "good-enough" to make it a purchase) ... NOTE: I am "not" going to shun this poor misunderstood coin ... I am going to raise it exactly as I raise all of my coins ... It will run free and enjoy a healthy up-bringing (don't feel sad for this coin ... it is part of my coin-family and it will be loved by me and it's sibs) Cheers
The Ancient Coin Humane Society has enough animals for both of us, my friend ... => there is strength in bidding strategy!!
