  1. I have a question, how much is a 1999 wide AM penny worth? And is it rare because I found one.

The only place you can get halves is from the mint

Not true. I get halves at the bank all the time.

@NaplesJack, I've looked through over 20 boxes of halves in your area and averaged only 0.5 silvers per box with only 1 of those being a 90% silver coin...NOT worth my time!

You can't make money off roll searching. If you put hours to silver found you get waaaaay less than a normal wage. You do it for fun!

No keepers in two boxes of halves. One 1945D nickel and a 1937 buffalo along with a date- less San Francisco buff. I am trying to coax the date out with vinegar.

I bring the tellers coins I have found (occasionally) and tell them coin stories. It breaks up their days which can be awfully tedious. Tellers are people, too.

My approach in saying thank you is giving the helpful tellers little curiosities I find from China--tiny handbag flashlights, magnifier's, a selfie stick or whatever strikes my fancy and that which they would like or get a laugh from

Keep trying. I have many rolls worth of nifc halves. All from the bank. They end up in circulation.

Went through a lot of coins this week. Box of BWR nickels, box of CWR dimes, nearly a box of CWR/BWR quarters...

Mostly I didn't find anything new. Did manage to upgrade my 1972-D nickel and (admittedly common but...) found a brilliant AU 1964-P nickel.

I did upgrade a bunch of quarters in my 'B' collection.

4 silver coins (all well worn) -

    nickels: 1944-P, 1945-P
    dimes: 1947-P, 1952-S

The dimes did fill empty slots in my book.

And, my friend Dave gave me a gorgeous 1971-D half last night. :)

Well I went through a bag of nickels this morning and got no silver, but found a gem BU 1941 nickel that was an upgrade to my MS set, found like 25 pre1956 nickels in there also, got a half bag of dimes from a new bank I just am starting to get stuff from today, and the bag of dimes had 33 silver Roosevelt in it, teller said that there are alot of old pennies and nickels still in the machine from when a guy took some stuff back im waiting for, not a bad day I would say.

Best penny in 18 rolls of CW's was a dime...that was a quick nine cents.

There's some joker in my area who likes to short rolls of quarters with a nickel, 3 coins in from the end. Have run across 6 rolls like this. :-/

Hmm. While I'm griping, have any of us complained to Loomis or reported them to the mint for defacing two coins on EVERY roll they make? There are laws about defacing currency.

Nothing worse than finding a buffalo, or a beautiful old coin that survived nearly 100 years, only to be circle scratched by Loomis.

Im surprised that the banks you use except customer wrapped rolls, all the banks around here make you break the rolls open if you bring them back to the bank. Of the banks I use I dont think a single one will take rolls in unless they are in a sealed box still, not sure why but people bring back the full boxes sometimes.
