Because of the uncertainty regarding the possiblity of other reverse proof Eisenhower dollar coins, I wrote to the Mint:

    Hello,
Regarding the upcoming Eisenhower Coins & Chronicles set, is the reverse
proof dollar coin just limited to these sets, or will they be issued for
others? Truman was just in the Coins and Chronicle sets, and that was
noted on the ordering information, this time it is not.
    Thank you,
    XXXXX XXXXXX

This is the answer that I received:

Seems that it almost needs translation, but I think that it means the reverse proof will only be used in this set. Your take?

Sounds like it. Thanks for posting, now we all have something to throw back at the mint if they renege.

It's gonna be fast, maybe less than 25 minutes. Just hope the website holds up with all the extra shills buying.

I still think the mint is somehow going to make more of the next 3 like they did with the Lincoln LP sets. After they saw how much they were selling for they made more of the LP2 LP3 LP4 That's why the LP1 set still sells for more than the rest, much lower now than it was.

This is getting to be like gambling. You got to know when to buy em know when to deny em.....

Kinda different, I don't think they stated a product limit for the LP sets.

I just don't see them issuing these RP's other than in these sets. If they wanted to sell more of them, they could easily raise future mintages to 50k or more and sell them all. Why incur the criticism and revenue loss ($4M) they incurred with the 2012 ASE Set? Oh that's right, they have incompetent management.

Not to mention the fact that the LP1, LP2, LP3, and LP4 sets were simply circulation quality coins off the business press wrapped in special paper and packaged in boxes for sale.
The packaging wasn't anything out of the ordinary and was easily obtainable.

    "Incompetent Management?"

Actually, they typically farm out marketing decisions to think tanks which don't really have a clue about "collectible coins" and end up basing production decisions on information which is totally irrelevant to what they are about to sell.

Remember the Native American Coins? Absolutely no marketing mention of the fact that the dollar coin had the "Enhanced Uncirculated" finish.

    (Another Windfall!)

    Yep, blew that one too.

I think I'd call that incompetent, wherever the decisions originate.

My take is they didn't exclude grouping them as a set.

Yeah, that's why I asked for youse guys interpretation. Mint's response was, to me, anyway, somewhat ambiguous.

Someone just posted they took that language out of the Truman set. Look for a 4 coin RP offering, with display case $249.

I'm just buying one for my personal collection

  21. It would not surprise me if we get an RP set before the end of the year. The RP dollars are easy enough to mass produce. TC
