Just received my March of Dimes set in the mail and noticed several fibers inside one of the dime capsules. How do I take the capsule apart to remove coin. I'll probably end up replacing the capsule since it came with some small cracks.

I've never seen the set in hand. Is the dime set in an individual capsule, like a "mini airtite"? If so, you can use an X-Acto knife. Just insert it in the edge seam and work your way around the perimeter.

Fingers heal, but coins do not!

I have a few of those fibers too but thought that I would just add more trying to clean them out, so they are just part of the set now.

Look at the side (reeded edge) and you should see a seam running around the circumference of the capsule. Insert a sharp blade in the seem and slowly work your way around the holder, gently prying back and forth. Eventually you will separate the two halves of the holder.........

And take care not to cut yourself. :)

The airtites are designed with an overlap of the edge of each half. You can't stab the coin!

I use my little Swiss Army knife, no need to use something as sharp as a razorblade.

Not if you're as talented as me. I'd manage to gouge the coin and stab my hand, and sadly I'd probably be more worked up about killing the coin than skewering my fingers.
