  1. No not mint to demand, but mint and do not reveal mintages until after a 30 day window. This would allow collectors the opportunity to get in and order without creating a day one feeding frenzy of people chasing low mintages.

Yeah, to a degree. Unfortunately "free markets" allow greed to run rampant, so our government, a government of and for ALL the people is supposed to look after the interest of ALL. The mint is owned by ALL the people, so it should have policies that benefit ALL the people, not favor the greed that runs rampant in this hobby.

Yeah, that would lower the frenzy, I would certainly order fewer and fear that a mint to demand or high mintage would happen.

Hey, if you're heavy into numismatics, this is big to you. All I'm asking is that the mint do the right thing for ALL of us numismatists/its customers and its owners. I'm not asking that the world change for us.

Yep, I could definitely live with fewer issues. But, that would take a lobby to convince Congress to rein in the mint. As it stands now, Congress loves the extra money coming into the treasury. You'd have to "convince" them, it's in their best interest to stop the mint. I don't know, could we get enough signatures to convince Congress we could make a difference in an election?

    Oh Stop.............

    Greed?

Define the difference between greed and profit?

The US Mint is NOT owned by ALL the people. It's not even subsidized with taxpayer dollars as it pays for itself and even pays money toward the National Debt to the tune of hundreds of millions every year.

How many sets did YOU order? 1?

    Or 5?

If you ordered 5 and you really only need 1 for a collection (as a coin collector) then you ordered 4 too many and could be guilty of "greed" since your extra 4 denied 4 collectors the opportunity to order their own set.

    Disagree?

That's the BIG problem, the people don't realize they are the government and have a voice. They sit back and allow the thieves to control it all. So, they get what the thieves are willing to give them = little to nothing.

The mint, regardless of where the funding comes from, is owned by the people and controlled by them indirectly through Congress.

I understand that the household limit for the Eisenhower Coin & Chronicle sets will be only 2 per household. Do you think that will make them more expensive aftermarket? Seems like the big shots will have to recruit lots more folks to order from the mint...

If they actually stay with 17k, it may spread them out a little more and make them more difficult to find in the aftermarket = higher price.
