Sorry you didn't win on the silver. Then again, if any random 95-W stood much chance of getting a 70, I guess they wouldn't carry the 20K premium...

That's cool. He got the Silver Eagle for free.

 

Ohhh.. He got a lot for free... Between the 2011 ASE and this alone... Probably paid for half of the collection.

The best part of this collection was the acquiring stage... I remember him sitting at the kitchen table with his magnify glass carefully examining .... and we all thought he was nuts.

Couldn't have afforded it back in the day and now that I am, I'm loathe to do so........

 

This deal really ticked off many of the folks that collected Silver Eagles.
You had to spend $999 to keep your set complete.
At one point the set in mint packaging was bringing 10K+. They have gone way down over the years. Many of the Silver eagles have grown milk spots after being slabbed. They don't like changes in holders.

 

Just wait... I'll post some of the receipts from the 90's.

A lot, and nothing that I'm currently willing to part with. 35,000 is not rare......

 

Doesn't matter.... $1,500 dollar investment for a $8,500+ return....no brainer
