Hi Everyone, My first post to the forum! I found my old coins I collected from when I was young and was thinking of giving them to my son as he's taken an interest. I don't have anything earth shattering, but everyone starts somewhere. One piece that has me confused is a 1788 Massachusetts One Cent piece I obtained in the 1980's. I checked out the chart to try to get a better understanding if it's real or not, but it's quite confusing. I utilized the search function but admit I'm still confused. One thing that stands out to me is on the eagle side are two bars below the talons instead of just one. Can anyone with experience in the colonial time period help me out? Please. 8>) I'll see what else I have that I can post for coins. I have the old redbooks from the 1980's and some magaznies but the world wide web certainly has the knowledge and information! Thank you to anyone in advance for your assistance. Robert

Based on ziggy's linked example, I'm not convinced, from the OP's posted low res. picts, that it is a fake. Post larger sharper picts and we'll see.
Hi Everyone, Thank you for the replies. I can try to post better images, but I'm not that computer savvy. I put the coin on my scanner, cropped the images, and uploaded the pics. Any ideas on the best way to get higher, better res images of the coin in question? I'd like to bring out the details if that's possible. I can try using my cell phone, but I thought the scanner would work best. I'll try to find a link that explains how to take great pics of coins, and see if I can get better images to post. Of all the coins I have this is the only one that I have no idea on. Thanks again for everything! Robert
Hi Everyone, I'm hoping these two image are clearer for the final determination. Based on the majority it seems like a fake reproduction. If anyone can please take a second look at the attached images I would greatly appreciate it. 8>) Thanks again for the assistance. Robert
