There are 4 die pairs for the 22 no D. Only die pair number two is considered the no D. The other three are considered weak D's. Go google the Lincoln Cent Resource. They have tons of info on lincoln cents and tell you the differences of the 4 die pairs.
according to the lincoln cent resource that you mentioned any of the 4 die pairs can be either the weak D or the no D. the only die pair with the strong reverse no D is die pair 2.
Yes but die pair number two is said to have never had a D mintmark. The others had the D but it either wore off due to excesive use or weakened depending on the state of the overworked dies. the obv die in pair two was clashed and is said to have had the D polished off.
Yes your coin does not have a D. It also depends on the TPG. Some only call it a no D if its die pair number two. It just depends on the grading company.
ANACS is the only company that does not call Die #1, #3, and #4 a no "D" coin regardless of the visibility of the "D". All others I know of say it the D is not detected at 10X, it is a no "D" and is labeled as such. On the other hand, ANACS is also the only company I have seen to label the die pair used. As for the coin here, I would have to see it in hand to be sure, but from that picture, I would think it would go weak "D" at PCGS and NGC also. I think I can see the remnants of the MM.
