I have wanted a full beard Geta for sometime. Finally got one pretty cheap about a month ago. Since then I have seen many of these types with the same reverse. Not sure if it's a hoard thats being dispersed or what. Geta (209 - 211 A.D.) AR Denarius O: P SEPT GETA PIVS AVG BRIT ,laureate head right . R: LIBERALITAS AVG V , LIberalitas standing left with counting board and cornucopiae . Rome Mint, 211 A.D. 3.7g 18mm RIC 88, RSC 68 The reverse ends legend with "AUG V". The 'V' stands for the number of times donatives had been given at the time of the minting. "Liberalitas" signifies generosity.
Here is the others as he aged. Geta (209 - 211 A.D.) AR Denarius O: L SEPTIMIVS GETA CAES, draped bust right. R: FELICITAS TEMPOR, Felicitas standing left holding caduceus and cornucopia. Nice coins guys! It is interesting to speculate what history would be like if Geta had killed Caracalla? I know Geta was no saint but you cant really get worse than Caracalla!
Fantastic OP-coin, Mat ... oh, and amazing coins from the rest of the ancient gang as well (bravo) ... Sadly, I only have this one measly baby-Geta example ... Geta as Caesar, AR Denarius Geta & Castor with horse ... man, I need to buy more coins!! ... I agree, my friend (*sigh*) ....... and lovin' it!!
