I see the saurmasche inscription even on graded coins. To me I would have thought it had negative connotations. This particular spelling isn't even in my internet dictionary for definition. What is the meaning and it's impact on value? (Novice to world coins.)
Why negative? Saurma, or rather Hugo Freiherr von Saurma-Jeltsch, wrote several books about numismatics, heraldry, etc. His most important work was the "Saurma'sche Münzsammlung deutscher, schweizerischer und polnischer Gepräge von etwa dem Beginn der Groschenzeit bis zur Kipperperiode" published in 1892. See here (article in German). A while ago somebody scanned the book and made it available online. Then it "vanished" and became, five years ago, accessible again. Problem is that medieval coinage.com is down as well. Many libraries have the book though. Christian
